In 1830, before the Church moved to Kirtland, missionaries came to the Isaac Morley Farm, after baptizing Sidney Rigdon, and taught the Morley family the gospel and baptized them.

After the Church moved to Kirtland, Joseph and Emma resided at the 80 acre Isaac Morley Farm, outside of Kirtland, from March-Sept of 1831. It was here that Joseph and Emma's twins were born and died, and they adopted the Murdock twins, Joseph and Julia.
