FOUR POEMS

by David Duganne

Wet

Refreshes
Keeps us cleansed
bites the thirst
scapes the land
wash away
like jumping in a pool
on a warm summer day
You are the water
that keeps me afloat
riding your rapids
sailing on my boat
I won't drown
you keep me above
the sea level
I'm not going down
Waving, Flowing
don't know where I'm going
the lakes and oceans
keep the world in motion
It all boils to stream
comes back down
as the rain
pours all over me
washes away
the pain

Sorrow Strikes

Walking in the rain
feeling the pain
am I to blame
for all the shame

Standing in the cold
growing old
what the future holds
I was never told

When sorrow strikes you in the eye
you want to cry
you'd rather die
take your chances
stakes are high
believe your feelings
touch the sky

Laying on the beach
you are out of reach
Sifting my fingers through the sand
what we don't know
is all unplanned

Waiting for the situation
thinking of the best
if the worst has already happened
then we have passed the test

When desire holds you to the floor
you beg for more
but you aren't sure
speak your mind
drown your thoughts
explain yourself
you're what you've got

(Untitled)

To be here is lonely
boring
Nothing's happening
not simple
endless - so it seems
lost in a place
actions few
no one returns
wanting is greed
so is not giving
selfish
the "me" generation
It's alright
I've got me

Stranded

How could you leave me here?
Standing all alone
Break my heart
seize my soul
dump me off
nobody to talk to
Food is scarce
Water? Undrinkable
I scream for help
but only hear my echo
No shelter is near
Mother nature has my life
in her hands
I, am empty handed
stranded
