WITH SCHOOL: About Learning Disabilities and Allison Boesel Dunn Illustrated by Rick Stromoski
One of the few chidren's boooks on disability from a primary school Girl's point of view this book was coauthored by the young girl Allison Boesel Dunn and her mother Kathryn Boesel Dunn in alternating page fashions. THe illustation are high quality line drawings by Rick Stromoski. The book deals with a non specific learning disability. It could be dyslexia or ADD but the book covers Allison and her mother's feeling about not knowing how to help Allison learn; her diagnosis and testing process; and her sucess through an IEP team at school. Very highly recommended for either gender child, although the two Adam Books offered under children's books cover much of the same material for boys. TROUBLE WITH SCHOOL "This nonthreatening book could be a useful introduction for parent and child to read together, especially if the child has been recently diagnosed as having LD." -- School Library Journal | |||
