Purina brand horse and animal feeds are featured in our store. Rainbow is the largest Purina dealer on the Hwy 101 corridor north of the Bay Area. A complete selection of quality hay is stocked including alfalfa, oat and grass hay. In addition we can arrange delivery to your property.

History
Established in 1983
Currently owned and operated by Jim Mayfield since 1983, Rainbow"s roots go back to the 1930s. Orginally named the Holz Company this local business was the "go to place" for Cat equipment. It was known as the primary supplier to the ag and industrial producers in the area.

In the 1960s a group of employees began running an irrigation company alongside the Holz facility. This group eventually bought out Holz and named their company Rainbow Irrigation. Mayfield bought Rainbow Irrigation and has grown the company from seven employees to over 40 and now operates two locations in Ukiah and Lakeport.

A local family owned and managed business Rainbow has achieved many awards including Business of the Year in Ukiah. The Lakeport facility was featured in a Lake County economic development brochure encouraging business to locate in the local area and the Ukiah facility received the City of Ukiah Beautification award.

Meet the Business Owner: Jim Mayfield
Jim was born and raised in the local area. A graduate of Ukiah High and Humboldt State University where he was choosen as the Outstanding Finance Student in 1980.

Mayfield's dedicaton to the local community is illustrated by his past and current volunteer positons. From the Chamber of Commerce to the Community Foundation of Mendocino County, Mayfield believes that you must give back to your community in order to be successful.

Having a staff that "runs the business like they own it" fits Mayfield's management style. A dedicated group of employees, many with over 20 years at Rainbow, help deliver the company slogan. "Experience The Difference."

His daughter Jillian is taking more responsible positions at Rainbow as Jim looks to continue the Rainbow success long into the future. Jim encourages you to come by and say hello.
