Summary of Events : June 1-5, 2009

Session 1 : June 1, 2009 — Arkansas

Madian, Seraph of Judgement is assigned to Earth for the first time, after 17 million years of service in Heaven. Lawrence assigns Jarebai, a Kyriotate of the Sword who's current Role is Jason Perry, to guard her and work with her, ordering him to keep her alive. He meets her at Jason Brown's courthouse in a small town in Arkansas. John Brown asks them to investigate some Disturbance he's heard coming from the outside of town. It turns out to be squatters in an abandoned home, including Alexander Smith (calling himself "Alexander Darkmoon"), a human sorcerer using a ritual to bind minor demonic spirits into the dead bodies of small animals, and Ummah, a Calabite. The angels confront the two, but Ummah escapes by going into Celestial form. Alexander Smith drives off, but only after his car is damaged. A Soldier of God working with John Brown chases down Smith, and the angels catch up with him, and explain to him the error of his ways. They turn him over to John Brown.

Session 2 : June 2-3, 2009 — New Orleans

Madian and Jarebai travelled to New Orleans, taking the scenic route. On the way, they stopped at a flea market, picked up a pistol for Jarebai, and a purse and some other "blend in corporeally" items for Madian. Arriving in New Orleans, they met with Lamalamaniel, aka Father Moses Johnson, the seneschal of the St. Louis Cathedral, a tether to the Sword. He told them that he and Joyherunai, the seneschal of a tether to Creation a few blocks away (the jazz club Rickie's on Bourbon street) head heard a disturbance the previous night that sounded like it was a human being hurt or even killed. Madian and Jarebai looked into this, and discovered that a teenage girl named Louise Vinnet had died. They tried talking with her parents (without much luck), but eventually figured out that she'd been killed by Marusha, a Mercurian of Destiny in the role of Martha Stesson, the owner of a second hand clothing store. Marusha was dissonant, and also evidently had some Discord, and had lost control of her anger with Louise for falling in with a bad crowd. Madian and Jarebai turned Marusha over to the small tether to Destiny inside the Monroe Library at Loyola University, with Madian promising that more attention from Judgment would come.

While leaving the library, Madian and Jarebai briefly slipped into Yves' library, and ran into Yves himself. He said simply, "Madian, Jarebai. It is good to see that the two of you are working together. Take care of what business needs to be taken care of in New Orleans; do not rush it. But, when you are done, visit the tether to Flowers in San Francisco."

Madian and Jarebai reported back to the St. Louis Cathedral. They next intend to look into Marusha's suspicions that the gang Louise had fallen in with was under diabolical influence. Jarebai, in the body of a rat, eavesdropped on some conversations between gang members (identified by the colors black and blue, usually with black leather jackets over blue T-shirts). One was asking another if he knew anything more about Louise, and said that "Malbers" was concerned to find out what had happened to her.

Session 3 : June 4-5, 2009 — New Orleans

Madian and Jarebai wanted to investigate Marusha's allegations that the gang Louise had fallen in with was under demonic influence. The most likely candidate was this "Malbers" who was evidently some sort of leader. Madian used the Celestial Song of Form to make herself look like Louise Vinnet. She approached a couple of gang members who were hanging out near the 7-11, and said that she had to talk to Malbers, and made vague and unspecified allegations that led the gang members to believe that Marusha had been holding her prisoner. (She avoided dissonance carefully, but skated the edge a few times.) She was then escorted back to Louise's house by one gang member. She avoided running into Louise's parents, although there was a brief confrontation between the gang member and Jarebai possessing his dog Duke.

The gang members contacted Malbers, and they arranged to meet him that evening. Madian went in again impersonating Louise, while Jarebai (in the body of Jason Perry) took up a position on the roof of the 7-11, overlooking the side of the building where the gang members hang out. Madian skirted dissonance again, but retreated to the women's room and then back to Perry's truck using the Celestial Song of Motion. Jarebai and Malbers— who was indeed a celestial of some sort— fought. Jarebai was doing well, but an Infernal Intervention left his Jason Perry body damaged and unconscious. He dematerialized it, and was forced to communicate by typing on a keyboard with a bird's beak for a little while. In other small animals, he found Malbers' SUV in the parking lot of a hospital, in the basement of which is a medical records department that is a tether to Fate. Infiltrating it as a mouse, he observed Malbers staring at a clock for many hours. They concluded this was a Rite, likely of Kronos (Demon Prince of Fate).

The next morning, Malbers called somebody named "Harry", and arranged to meet him at a "safe house" in a few hours. In yet another small animal (a lizard), Jarebai followed him to an abandoned house in a dilapidated neighborhood. Madian and Jarebai went to confront him there. Combat and pursuit ensued, which ended with Malbers dead. They left the body in the safehouse, and also moved Louise Vinnet's body from Marusha's store to the safehouse (with the help of Mulidispiel, the Seneschal of the Destiny tether in town).

They returned to the St. Louis Cathedral and reported in. Dominic (in his female "Dominique" vessel) dropped in on Madian and asked for a report. He said she had done well for her first few days. While, of course, confronting the Hoard is the primary goal of all angels, he was particularly happy that she had caught out Marusha in her dissonance before it went further, and turned her over to her superior's tether. He gave her a new Rite, and also allowed her to keep the level-3 demonically-created rabbit's foot reliquary that she and Jarebai had found on Malbers.

Their plan was to leave for San Francisco the next morning.
