We designed the Eigertek Eclipse to be the simplest and best 3-weapon scoring machine in the world at an extremely affordable price. We tested and scrutinized every design decision under actual fencing conditions, reducing unnecessary costs wherever possible while increasing quality where it counts--in performance and reliability. We are very proud to offer you the product of all this effort.

The following is added technical detail and specifications for your information.

FIE Compliance
The Eclipse meets all standard FIE requirements, including the latest rules changes (Winter 2005).

Anti-Fraud
The Eclipse has been programmed to detect and ignore fraudulent signals in foil caused by touching the bell guard to the lamé.

Power
The Eclipse comes with a standard 12 volt power supply but can accept 9 to 25 volts DC. It uses very little electrical power--seven Eclipses use about the same power as one 40 watt light bulb. You can even power an Eclipse with a single 9 volt battery for a typical all-day tournament (battery adapter is included).

Timing Accuracy
Weapon timings have been calibrated and are accurate to within 1/1000 of a second.

Changes in Resistance
The Eclipse measures the total resistance of the fencing circuit including weapons, body cords, and reels 1000 times per second and automatically adjusts to any changes in resistance due to perspiration or corrosion.

Static Protection
The Eclipse provides protection from static electricity adequate for most environments.

Microprocessor
The Eclipse is controlled by a state-of-the-art microprocessor. Should there be any future changes in timings or rules by the FIE, the microprocessor's firmware can be easily updated by Eigertek. Upgrades are normally available as a do-it-yourself upgrade chip or the entire machine can be upgraded by American Fencers Supply.

Power-On-Self-Test
The Eclipse runs a comprehensive test of its internal circuitry on power-up to ensure stable operation.

Case
The Eclipse case is made from high-impact ABS plastic, which we chose for being rugged, lightweight, and low cost. The Eclipse is approximately 8-1/2 inches wide, 4 inches tall, and 1-3/4 inches thick.

Lights
Each scoring light uses two high-intensity LEDs that we chose for matched apparent brightness, purity of hue, and large viewing angle. The weapon indicator is bright blue and the grounding lights are yellow. Unlike light bulbs, the LEDs do not require frequent replacement. We calculated that in normal club use, the LEDs for the scoring lights should last about 400 years, after which they may begin to lose their brightness.

Extension Lights
The pinout for the Eclipse extension light connector is available on request.
