In January of 2013 we upgraded the original nickel plated Shubb capo, giving it the roller and contoured lever formerly only available on our Deluxe. But whenever you change something, some people will prefer the original. So for those who still want the "classic" — the original Shubb capo as it has been for more than 30 years —

We are continuing to make the ORIGINAL Shubb capo available in plain brass.

model shown: C1B (brass)

It is machined at our shop in Missouri, and left unplated. Plain, unplated brass will darken in time. For those of us who appreciate brass, we prefer this look; reminiscent of an old microscope, or a piece of gear from a sailing ship. But if you like your brass to shine, it can be polished with a cloth and most any commercial metal polish, and it will shine like gold.

A good choice for instruments with gold colored hardware, and a natural for those who fancy a retro look.

Since 1980 the Shubb capo has set the standard against which all others must be measured. It is the first choice ... often the only choice... of more than a million musicians worldwide. The serious guitarist will settle for no less.

What makes the Shubb capo so special?

For one thing, its ingenious design: its patented over-center locking action provides an unrivalled combination of power, speed, accuracy and ease of use. One smooth flip of the lever locks it securely in place, and removes it just as quickly.

And the Shubb capo is BY FAR the best at not creating tuning problems. Its soft, resilient rubber is specially designed to work just like a fingertip, so it doesn't bend the strings over the frets. Its closing action is just like your hand, so it doesn't pull the string off center. As a result, no re-tuning is necessary!

Precisely machined and carefully hand assembled, a Shubb capo is manufactured without compromise. Simply holding one in your hand conveys a sense of quality. Snapping it solidly onto a guitar neck in about one second, and then playing without having to retune will confirm its reputation for excellence.
