AXYS reversible guitar slide

Did you get the wrong size Axys?
The Axys is presently sold complete with all four ring sizes, so you should get a good fit unless your hands are super-large.

But prior to 2008, the Axys was sold with just a single ring, and you selected by size. If you got the wrong size, or simply would like to experiment with different fingers or different fits, or maybe you lost the one that fits you best, replacement rings are just two dollars.

Are you between sizes?
Sizing is not super-precise. Personally, I can use either a medium or a large about equally well. It's more of an issue if you have large knuckles, just as ring sizing is with some people. Pick the larger of the sizes you're between, and it works quite well to pad the inside of the Delrin ring with something. Tape isn't bad; a cut section of a bandage is ideal. You'll have to experiment a little to get just the right amount of padding. Brooks Story, the man who invented the Axys, sets his up this way.

Brass darkens
Does the metal part of your Axys not look bright and shiny any more? Brass darkens with time, eventually becoming almost chocolate brown. Many people — especially those who love brass — prefer this color. But if you would like your Axys to be bright and shiny again, it is safe to use just about any commercial metal polish. With just a little rubbing your Axys will shine again.
