Custom work

We are sometimes able to accommodate requests for custom capos when it does not require altering our machining fixtures, dies, or tooling.

One example of such a custom job would be a capo made for an extra-wide neck, as in the case of an 8-string or 10-string classical guitar. We have done this a few times before, and we cannot guarantee it will work as well as our six-string version of the capo. We will only lengthen the part that covers the strings, to the length you specify, but the rest of the mechanism we cannot alter. So the pad will not engage the back of the neck near its center. The geometry will not be ideal. Still, users have been reasonably satisfied with them.

Other examples of custom work would include a thinner pad to extend the deeper end of the capo's range, for a thicker neck, or a shimmed pad to extend the shallower end of the capo's range, for a thinner neck. Some other customizations might be possible as well, but none that involve retooling or applying custom finishes.

With any custom work, we cannot guarantee that the results will be as good as with our regular production products, but we will not make something if we don't think it will work at all. We usually charge only $5.00 in addition to the regular price of the capo for custom work, but it can sometimes take us some time to work it into our production schedule.
