◊ We get organized. In this session I outline how the class will run. In the next session I will describe what I mean by "sound", one of the aspects of the short stories we will be considering throughout the term.

Thoughts*

This is not a "read and translate" course, nor is it a lecture course on modern Japanese literature. It is a hybrid language-literature course run in a specific way. This session orients you to my expectations.

We also create working groups in this session. If you are absent, you will be assigned a group and a role.
