Kyokushin Kyokushin (Pronounced "Key-yoke /shin" meaning " Society of the ultimate truth"), is reputed throughout the Martial Arts World as The Strongest Karate. It was founded in 1953 by the late Grand Master Mas Oyama. After studying the Martial Arts for two decades, training in many different forms; from Korean to Chinese to Japanese styles, as well as boxing and self defense tactics in North America, he created Kyokushin from what he believed to be the best qualities of each and combined his own practical training methods so the application of these ancient forms could easily suit 21st Century practitioners. This is the fundamental reason Kyokushin Karate differs from other styles, it remains very traditional in its teaching methods, protocol and beliefs, yet surpasses rigid guidelines to allow its practitioners to individually grow and progress. onald Buck, MD, TCM (Hanshi Buck) was one of the first Karate Instructors in the United States. He was a Judo & Jujitsu student in 1952 when he began teaching Karate. Hanshi Buck was teaching Karate with 10th Dan Jujitsu Master Duke Moore in one of San Francisco's first Karate schools (Dojo's). Sosai Mas Oyama had heard of Hanshi Buck and sought him out during a visit to the United States in 1956. Sosai Oyama was impressed with Hanshi Buck's skill and appointed him the head of the Kyokushin Kaikan (Kyokushin Organization) in the United States. Hanshi Buck studied Hungar Kung Fu under Sifu Y.C. Wong which encouraged his further Kung Fu studies in China. While residing in China, Hanshi Buck opened a Chinese acupuncture/acupressure health clinic. Hanshi Buck was appointed the honorary President of the clinic by Sifu Chan Shiu-fan. Since his return to the United States he has combined various Jujitsu, Judo, and Kung Fu techniques with Kyokushin. It is Sosai Mas Oyama's and Hanshi Buck's Kyokushin & Kung Fu Karate that is being taught at this Dojo. | ||
