November 1956 Looking east from upper Locust Ave. In the center foreground is the Larkspur dump, of which I have vague but pleasant memories. It wasn't a garbage dump, but more of a junkyard, a place where people (like us) would discard their old unwanted, but potentially interesting, crap. Henry C. Hall School now occupies the site. To the right are the (still) familiar Niven greenhouses. Doherty Drive now runs along the channel at the center, with Redwood High School at the end. The hill, really an island, beyond is now gone, and the area today is in the vicinity of Tamal Vista Blvd. and Nellen Ave. Kodachrome slide by Will Penna |
