This is Jimmy. He is (1) a werewolf, (2) an inventor, and (3) obsessed with toast. He's not one of my characters, but upon hearing his description I simply had to draw him. I'm sure you can see why.
There is a store that sells swords and various other pointy implements of doom. There is a display of many types of sculptures ranging from adorably cuddly owls to humanoid dragons riding motorcycles. There is a sculpture that looks much like this, from what I remember. It might have been a candleholder. It was fantastic, one of the few that I promised myself I'd draw sometime later. I love it so.
Here's some quick & sketchy life drawings done at Amtgard. This was a good practice at drawing quickly, since no one held their cool poses for very long at all; I got to work on the mental snapshots. Oh, and once again: if you can read the tiny writing, kudos. And if you can't, don't worry about it. The one that gets cut off says "It's all good when you start measuring swords in grams."
It was agreed that I needed a better Amtgard outfit than the one I started out with. Preferably one that better fit the elven monk that I play. So, we made one based on the pattern of my karate gi. This is a bit of beforehand sketching to see how it would look. Also on the page are a few tiny fighting poses, and the sketch of a portrait I fully intend to do better at some point. I think I'll save the full explanation for then. Suffice it to say, it is Amtgard-related, and one of those people is me.
Random Sketch Page, Number... something. This is one of the papers that lived in my binder for a while, acumulating various pictures and a water stain of some sort. For some reason or another, I really wanted to draw a mermaid playing volleyball. (Yes, she is leaping out of water, not doing an awkward hop off a gym floor.) It is my opinion that with some work and a nice sunset backdrop, this would make a great postcard. I'd buy it. And probably stick it on my wall instead of sending it.
I try not to draw on lined paper, but I was at a Writing Center conference at Stanford (woo!) and had no blank paper. And I wanted to draw this dragon. So here he is, apparently roaring in annoyance at the strange lines in front of him.
