Interested in my services?  That's why I'm doing this....

Either contact me by email (below) or by phone at (510) 524-1838.  I'll be happy to talk with you on what your issues or concerns are.  While I have a good breadth of knowledge and problem solving skills, I don't (and can't) know everything.  And I have no problem admitting that.  Our discussions usually begin with the following question.

What do you need to understand or analyze?

I'll listen carefully to what your needs are and respond with questions to help me understand what level and kind of expertise you need and be as clear as I can on how (or if) I can help you.  Unless you've dealt with outside engineers or analysts before, often the first task is a basic reality check on what to expect and what kind of effort is needed.  Which then moves to the next type of question.

How much will it cost?

I am willing to work with you on devising a cost basis for my services.  If the scope and nature of the work can be well defined, a fixed price basis works well.  On the other end of the spectrum, if the scope is not well defined, it's not fair to expect me to be precise with a cost.  Obviously budgets are something everyone lives with and nobody has blank checks to give away (at least for very long).  I've worked under a number of agreements including...

Straight hourly rate - This works well when I serve as a "virtual employee" for relatively small, quick efforts or investigations.
Not to exceed basis - This works well when an effort is clearly defined.  You tell me what you have and need and I can tell you what it will take me to accomplish that.
Per week/month rate - When the effort is significant I'll be willing to work out a rate that assumes full time focus yet isn't the sum of my hourly rate times number of hours, in essence a volume discount.
Percentage of benefit - Wouldn't be nice if you only had to pay for work from the extra profits generated by that work?  That's the idea here.  This is a case-by-case basis that we both need to be clear and fair on for it to work.

Or a mix and match of these.
