This adobe house, built by William B. Ide reputedly about 1850, represents a typical frontier structure of the American period. Ide, who came to California with his family in 1845, was the first and only president of the California Republic under the Bear Flag Party proclamation of June 14, 1846.

Built about 1850 by General Ide, who came to California with his family in 1845. Helped organize the revolt against the Mexican mandate requiring Americans to leave California, and was first and only president of the California Republic, under Bear Flag Party proclamation.

Plaque and site: William Ide Adobe State Historic Park, 3040 Adobe Rd, 1.5 mi N of Red Bluff; 2nd plaque at SW corner of Old Hwy 99W and Walton Ave; 3rd plqaue at SE corner of Old Hwy 99W and Adobe Rd (in Adobe Plaza parking lot).
