The Living Room
February 10, 1955. Photographer: Will. 2-1/4 square Kodak Verichrome Pan negative, available light.

The reflection at the bottom is from the late, lamented cocktail table. Its main purpose, from my point of view, was to pile stuff on and also to provide a perfectly smooth, even surface when I wanted to draw or color.

The nearest chair, the lamp on the kidney table and the desk back in the corner are now in my possession. On the floor behind the embroidered chair is the "treasure chest," which Rosemary now has; then it housed the electric train set.

I'm afraid the living room is the only well-documented one from this decade. Except for "The Boys Room" and glimpses of the kitchen in "Pets," none of the others seem to have been photographed.
