SEBASTOPOL COMMUNITY BRAND PROJECT

In July 2006 the Sebastopol Area Chamber of Commerce embarked on a project to create a community wide brand. In partnership with the City of Sebastopol, the Chamber contracted with North Star Destinations to conduct the research and create an image and tag line print. There were a variety of purposes for this study: to promote Sebastopol both locally and regionally; to unify and utilize a message about the area; to create opportunities to better understand our market; and to encourage and foster a strong local economy.

The final report offers the research data that was collected through a variety of means. The report also includes some brand building ideas as suggestions for moving forward with the brand implementation. The brand building ideas may or may not be included in implementation.

IMPLEMENTATION of the BRAND

Since the official study was completed there have been a number of projects that have been implemented with the new brand. The Chamber has officially adopted the logo and tag line as our logo; the City has included the logo on their stationary; we have printed products with the new logo and others have “adopted” its use on their materials, websites and other. City banners are in production and other signage was created to promote the brand and a various messages. We have used it in advertising campaigns, both printed and radio spots. There have been a number of creative uses with it so far. There will be more information and links to follow on this topic.
