Local Promotion
The Sebastopol Chamber’s mission is to foster a strong local economy. That being said, there are a number
of projects and programs that do just that. Through some of the Sebastopol Promotion funding we have created an advertising campaign that encourages local shopping, dining, staying and playing. In our City banners and in other print and radio, the public is invited and urged to support the local economy.
A “Shop Local” message has been distributed all over town. An on going educational program is important to assure that the public knows that shopping locally supports the services and infrastructure in our community and the many additional
community activities that make up the quality of life. There are some new programs emerging to accomplish the Shop Local message. The Chamber is working on creating a local shop card. Watch for further information.

Russian River Vineyards Wins Big at Largest Competition of American Wines in the World
(Forestville, CA) January 23, 2013
Russian River Vineyards' 2009 Estate Grown Russian River Valley Pinot Noir was honored with the Double Gold award on January 11th at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition, the largest competition of American wines in the world.
Winemaker Anthony Austin, a fourth generation Sonoma County Native with 35 years of winemaking under his belt, knows the ins and outs of creating fine wine. "It's a complicated effort of taking all the instruments — vineyards, fruit, climate, barrels, bottles, technology and so forth — and drawing them together to create something of pleasure," explains Austin, "You have to use guidance rather than force to elicit the best performance — and make the very best wine."
In addition to the Double Gold award, Russian River Vineyards was also awarded Gold for their 2009 Guido Venturi Vineyard Mendocino Petite Sirah and a Silver for their 2009 Anderson Valley Pinot Noir. Russian River Vineyards' entry was one of 5,500 wines from across the country to be judged by more than 60 premier professional wine experts including industry media, restaurant and hospitality industry wine buyers, retail wine buyers, wine educators, winemakers and industry representatives.
Russian River Vineyards, in the heart of Sonoma's famed Russian River Valley, is a unique "destination winery" -- one of the oldest and most storied in the region. It is also just one of five properties in California to feature both a tasting room and restaurant, Cork's Restaurant at Russian River Vineyards. The tasting room is open daily from 11 am to 5 pm, Corks restaurant is open at 11:30 Monday through Friday and at 10:00 on Saturday and Sunday at 5700 Gravenstein Highway North
Forestville, CA 95436.
