I can provide mounts for all of my pavisiers and up to eight of my crossbowmen, either regulars, irregulars, or skirmishers. Drawing on the wisdom from an unknown DBM list member, I have constructed ‘sabots’ using a single horse place sideways on a cavalry-sized stand with sufficient room for the infantry unit to be placed in front of it. When mounted, the infantry element is placed on top. When dismounted, but with mounts still available for re-mounting, the horse is placed behind the infantry. If you lose your mounts, you simply remove the horse stand. Simple, no muss, no fuss, and certainly simpler than painting one or two extra elements each.
