![]() Makes 4 (1 cup) servings 2 pounds sweet potatoes or yams 1 cup canned whole cranberry sauce 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon 1 tablespoon brown sugar 1 tablespoon real maple syrup 2 tablespoons butter 1/2 teaspoon light salt or to taste 1. Peel the potatoes, then dice them into about 1-inch square pieces. 2. Put a steamer basket into a 3- to 4-quart pot with a tight fitting lid. Fill it with water to cover the bottom of the pot but not rising above the bottom of the basket. Cover and bring to a boil over high heat. Add the potatoes, cover and steam about 12 to 15 minutes, until the potatoes are tender but not falling apart. Drain the potatoes well in a strainer then put them into a 2- or 3-quart casserole. 3. Using a potato masher or large fork, mash the potatoes, gradually adding the cranberrv sauce, cinnamon, brown sugar, maple syrup and salt.
