Orphaned from birth, Sha’oul has been raised in a monastery his entire life (names and places omitted so as to be
placed within ongoing campaign by DM).  Having no family but the Brothers, Sha’oul never considered any other path for his life but one of quiet contemplation and the lifelong pursuit  of The Way, the perfect balancing of mind, body and spirit.  All of this would change on his eighteenth birthday, when he was called before his Master.

“You wish to see me master?”

“Ah, Sha’oul come set next to me and watch the setting sun, it is magnificent is it not?”

“If you say it is so Master.”

“Have you no opinion of your own on this Sha’oul?”

“I have given it no thought Master, for it is not a part of the Way.”

“You think it is not then?  This is a problem I have seen coming for some time I’m afraid.”

“Problem Master?”

“Sha’oul what is your purpose?”

“To attain The Way Master.”

“Why?”

“Master I do not understand the question, there is only The Way.  It is what we all strive for.”

“Not all men seek the same goal Sha’oul, there are as many paths in life as there are stars in the sky.  You seek The Way because it is all that you have ever known, and this is my fault I fear.”

“Master I wish for no other way but The Way, of this I am certain.”

“Sha’oul there is an entire world beyond these walls that everyone here has seen some part of save you.  We have all come here of our own free will, for we have seen what other men strive to obtain and find it not to our liking.  I want you to go out into the world and see what other men hold dear, what way they follow, for it may be your way as well.”

“But Master, I have never been beyond these walls, I know nothing of the outside world.  How will I make my way?”

“Take this letter to Master Tan in Greatwall, you find him at the Temple of (insert name of DM’s choice here).”

“What is a Greatwall, Master?”

“It is a city a few (insert distance of DM’s choice here) (insert direction of DM’s choice here) of here.”

“What is a city Master?”

“Oh dear, I fear you have a great deal to learn outside these walls Sha’oul.”
