Kyle's 1972 240Z

I got this car in November of 1994, and a lot has changed since then...

In The Beginning - It was all stock, #112 Yellow, original hubcaps and radio. Of course, I couldn't leave well enough alone, and over the next six years it got the usual ration of modifications

  • L28/E88/SU engine
  • K&N air filters
  • Motorsport Auto 6 into 2 header
  • GM HEI Electronic Ignition
  • No smog
  • KYB 4-way adjustable strut inserts
  • Polyurethane bushings all the way through
  • Suspension Techniques springs
  • 1979 280ZX 5-speed
  • 3.90 R200 rear end
  • Dynomax 2.5 inch exhaust
  • 15X7 Panasports w/ 225/50R15 treads
  • Addco sway bar up front; broke the rear mounts;-)
  • Momo steering wheel and shifter
  • 1991 Eagle Talon leather seats
  • Sony stereo
  • Classic Datsun Motorsports spook

That got it looking and running great, and All Was Well (this is the old days)

Then, in a typical feat of self-indulgence, I managed to kill the engine. That's not as drastic as it sounds, for post-mortem revealed that the damage was most likely simply a galled valve guide brought on by a clogged oil bar. However, a dead engine is all the reason I needed for an update. And, of course, that was the beginning of the process.... the Where Do I Stop process.
