Anne Yoshie Okada
The Okada family has three-generation roots on Hawaii's garden island of Kauai. We were Peace Corps volunteers together in Ecuador during 1964-1966. Anne was the only woman teacher in Quito's National Polytechnic Institute. Engineering students who wanted to continue their studies first had to pass her English course. She helped manage two educational libraries in Cali, and worked in libraries in Waimea and Novato. More recently, she taught English as a second language to Elementary school students in Santa Rosa and Petaluma.
Alec Ichiro
Alec was born shortly before we left Berkely for Colombia in 1970. While still in high school, he managed the food services at a local convalescent hospital. Recently he helped keep things running for a metal injection molding team for an engineering firm in Petaluma, California.
Daniel Jiro
Daniel was born in Cali, Colombia. He finished his studies in environmental science at the University of California at Davis in 1998, followed by a 2003 Masters program at Sweden's LUND University. Dan studies fish biology in the North Atlantic; he and his partner Mikkel make Denmark their home.
