Landscape Articulation
Articulating the base of a large grand fir
Articulating the base of a large fir tree
A. The fir tree is covered with fallen and dead limbs, tangled by overgrown weeds, brush and briars. The area beneath the tree is obscured and inaccessible.
B. Dead limbs and brush are cleared. Lower dead limbs are sawed off and removed.
C. A brush hog mows overgrown weeds, brush and briars along the meadow edge.
D. Now we can enjoy walking and sitting under the tree, enjoying its shade. The grandeur of this large tree is accentuated and better appreciated.
Grand fir has reached a 5 foot diameter by 2009

Fir Grove by the high meadow
Originally these firs were an inpenetrable thicket of dead, eye-poking lower branches, making the grove inaccessible and inhospitable. After limbing off these lower branches up to ten feet, the grove was opened up to easy walking, appreciation and summer picnics under the canopy shade.
