Sebastopol & the West County
Sebastopol
and West County Sebastopol loves its apples. Come visit for
the annual apple Blossom Festival in April or the Gravenstein
Apple Fair in August. Located in Northern California's wine
and redwoods region, the "Main Street USA" town of Sebastopol
is the western market center of one of the San Francisco Bay
Area's fastest growing counties. With its appealing natural
and cultural environment and informal atmosphere, Sebastopol
is attracting a number of sophisticated manufacturing and
service businesses, earning it inclusion in California's "Smart
Valley" economy.
The
newer plaza is home to a farmers market on weekends.
It
is a place where people can get that old small town life with
the sophistication of much larger towns. Many locate here
to take advantage of the school system.
Sebastopol
in located 56 miles north of San Francisco, 7 miles west
of Santa Rosa and 13 miles east of Bodega Bay. The population
is 7,750 with a market area of 50,000. Average rainfall
December through March is 36 inches, with frost possible.
Temperatures range from the low 40's in the wintertime to
the 80's or 90's in summertime. The town is an eclectic
mix of cafes, specialty stores, award winning restaurants
and markets, new age shops and bookstores. The outskirts
are blanketed in apple orchards, vineyards, nurseries, Christmas
tree farms and Antique shops.
West
of Sebastopol uncover the tiny towns of Graton, Occidental,
Freestone and Valley Ford.
Graton
boasts a wealth of fine restaurants. It holds two flower
shows a year as well as its annual Graton Days Celebration.
Settlers
coming to log the ancient redwoods originally established
Occidental. Famous for its Italian restaurants, you can
also enjoy the bakeries, unique gift, clothing and local
handicrafts.
Freestone
is nestled in the picturesque Freestone Valley. It presents
beautiful historic buildings, nurseries, organic bakery
and a day spa that offers cedar enzyme baths. During the
winter holidays, the town is lit up in white lights.
Valley
Ford is situated in the middle of farm communities. Come
eat family style or browse the antique stores.
