EcoDomestic Wool — Guiding Criteria

1. PROPER GRAZING METHODS
Adequate field rotation to eliminate the risk of soil erosion AND to reduce the risk of internal parasites in the sheep.
2. GRADING
A skirting table is used at shearing. Dung tags and belly wool are removed for easier scouring and cleaner wool. The health of the animal is assessed by the wool-grower and handled accordingly.
3. APPROPRIATE MECHANICAL CRITERION...
...for bedding products- medium to medium fine white wools in breeds which performs superlatively with staple length of about 2 and a half to four inches.
4. PREDATOR FRIENDLY
Responsible sheep protection involves the use of trained sheep dogs, and the inclusion of other larger animals, such as llamas in the flock. This eliminates the need for traps and other aggressive methods.
