Cline Times 2001

The Real Millennium

Happy New Year! It seems that harvest just ended but here we are toasting to the year 2001! Around the winery it seems quite compared to the lively days of harvest but production continues to stay busy. The winery is about to endure three long months of bottling, beginning with the 1999
California Syrah (approximately 7,000 gallons will be bottled each day = 36,000 bottles or 3,000 cases daily for 10 days for a total of 30,000 cases). Our California Syrah program has proven to be a huge success. The 1998 vintage garnished great accolades from the wine press and consumers in 2000. Food & Wine Magazine named the 1998 Cal Syrah Best Wine in the $15 and under category, Top 100 Wine Values by the Wine Spectator and Top 150 Wine Values by Wine Enthusiast. The 1999 California Syrah should prove to be another smashing success!

Following the
California Syrah the 2000 Côtes d'Oakley Vin Gris, a dry rosé, will be bottled. This wine is styled along the lines of the classic Southern French rosé from Tavel and Bandol with a Californian touch. Release date February 14, 2001 just in time for wine & rosés.

Next, the 2000 Côtes d'Oakley
Vin Blanc a multitude of white varietals producing a wine that our fans considered a favorite house white. This wine is intended to be a uniquely Cline interpretation of an everyday table white--adventurous, affordable and delicious.

Finally, the 1999 Ancient Vines (Mourvedre, Carignane and Zinfandel),Vineyard designated reds and Los Carneros (Viognier, Syrah and Marsanne) wines will be blended and bottled, saving the best for last. Estimate completion time is spring just in time for bud break in the vineyards and before you know it harvest will be knocking at our door.
