WildWeather As the saying goes April showers bring May flowers
but in Northern California it was anything but rain in April. April can go on record as one of the coldest in thirty
years. Not only was it a problem if you had to pay PG&E to heat your home, but growers had to worry about frost
in the vineyards causing damage to the delicate shoots that emerged in March. There were reports of severe damage in the Russian River area located in northern Sonoma; mostly Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes were affected. Luckily for Cline Cellars the Los Carneros property was spared from any damage due to location. The Los Carneros vineyards experienced temperatures as low as 32.5 degrees on Easter Sunday to a high 85.1 degrees on the 24th of April. It was the infamous winds of the Carneros district that aided in the circulation of warmer weather with cold air preventing frost on the vines. OtherNews Cline Cellars' winemaker Matt Cline was featured in The San Francisco Chronicle Food Section April 11, 2001. According to a new study conducted at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, drinking wine after a heart attack may help prevent another. The study finds that one or two glasses of wine a day may help heart attack survivors. To read more about the potential health benefits of wine visit the Wine Spectator.

NOT ONE GOOD EXCUSE TO MISS IT!
I opened a bottle of 97 Carignane Ancient Vines and there was crystallization on the inside of the cork, it did not effect the wine but what is it? This crystallization general term is known as tartrates. Crystal sediment
separates from wines during fermentation and ageing produced by the wine's tartaric acid. They are completely harmless
and tasteless. For Cline Cellars wine reviews visit our Current Accolades page.
