With a love of fly fishing equaling his passion for winemaking, Rudy von Strasser pays homage to the sport and the magnificent freestone rivers he loves  to fish by creating a new wine he simply calls, "Freestone". The wine's label is  an artist's series, with a different original painting of a fishing fly gracing  each new vintage. Freestone's Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot and Chardonnay are made in slightly greater quantities than the von Strasser wines, and are crafted to be soft, fruity and enjoyable upon release. Each year von  Strasser Winery donates a portion of the proceeds from the sale of Freestone to aid in the preservation of pristine fishery habitat.

Some of you may have seen "Freestone" wine in the marketplace, and noted that it is produced by von  Strasser. This is our Napa Valley line, for which we produce a Cabernet  Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc. Merlot and a Chardonnay. It is an "artist-series"  label, with every vintage depicting an artists rendition of a fishing fly.
