Dana H. Gabel

As a passionate visual artist and devoted instructor, Dana H. Gabel has accomplished much in her 30 years.

After attending the Pratt Institute, where she received both her BFA and MFA in Studio Arts with a minor in Art Criticism, Dana has steadfastly honed her teaching skills. She brings her vivacious perspective and involved approach to a broad spectrum of students from high school teenagers to community college and university attending adults.

Dana also maintains her connections with the art community by actively exhibiting her work at national galleries and festivals such as the Belanthi Gallery of New York and the National Arts Program Video Festival.

Her efforts as both an academic and an artist exemplify her interactive approach to Art. Dana considers Art as a multivalent series of cycling communication between artist, art object and viewer. Her emphasis on this “interactivity” make her uniquely and exquisitely qualified to be Zoomermagazine.com’s Art Columnist. We eagerly await Dana’s treatment of this most promising of blank canvasses-the internet.

Both on the ‘Net and in the real world, most of us today live out our lives, unfortunately unaware of Art’s ever-present role in our physical and spiritual interactions. In her columns, Dana will elucidate Art’s multitudinous incarnations and positions. It is our confidence that, during her process, Dana H. Gabel shall aid us in the awakening of our artful natures.
