Stephen H. Nii was born May 6, 1972 in Honolulu, Hawaii. While his birth date does place him out of the Baby Boomer demographic, he is acutely and intimately aware of the pervasive influence of this generation.
Raised by a traditional Japanese-American family, he can truly be considered a product of the Baby Boomer generation. His background will serve to offer provocative observations and conclusions as an outsider to the generation. His connection to other generations, for example, Gen-Xers and Gen-Yers, also promises great potential to reach these other groups.
He does share many similarities with the Baby Boomers as his position of Assistant Editor at Zoomers.com will be a second career change in his young life. His first career spanned 1986-1997 as a professional tennis player on the ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) Main, Challenger and Satellite Tours. His acquaintance of, tutelage from and proximity to some of the greatest champions of this sport have yielded many experiences and revelations he offers to the magazine.
Since then, he has attended the University of California, Davis (1990-1995), worked in the publishing and advertising industries (1995-present), and continues to instruct promising local juniors and adults in the finer points of competing in tournament tennis (1990-present).
Stephen has received a Bachelor of Arts in English from UCD as well as minors in Sociology and Women's Studies. He has attended the university's MFA program for Creative Writing, Poetry and received many commendations, awards, prizes and special recognitions for his writing talents and editing skills from some of today's most prominent writers and critics.
We at Zoomers Magazine.com believe that Stephen will share this wealth of talents with the other contributors and brightly shape and assure the future of this publication.
